Digital mammography is a screening process used to see inside the breast and help detect breast cancer. Images are stored and retrieved electronically, eliminating the time needed for the development of film. Digital mammograms give a much clearer, sharper image that can easily be enhanced. This screening technique provides less of a wait time for patients and allows our team of radiologists to provide a 3D mammography (also known as breast tomosynthesis) to patients.
Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in women. When caught early, it is often easier to treat successfully. Regular breast exams, mammograms and breast screenings all aid in the early detection of breast cancer, often before there are signs or symptoms present.
