Charlene B. Broome, MD Retires after 30 Years
Hattiesburg Clinic would like to offer gratitude and best wishes to Charlene B. Broome, MD, who has retired from Hattiesburg Clinic Allergy, Asthma and Immunology after more than 30 years of dedicated service. Throughout her career, she has made a lasting impact on the lives of her patients and the communities she has served.
Dr. Broome received her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine followed by an internship in pediatrics at Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center at the University of Tennessee, and a residency in pediatrics at the University of Kentucky. She also completed a fellowship in allergy and immunology at Duke University Medical Center.
Broome was inspired to pursue a career in medicine at an early age, following in the footsteps of her parents who both served as psychiatrists at Mississippi State Hospital. Their commitment to compassionate care and public service laid the foundation for Broome’s own path in health care.
Reflecting on her career, Broome shared, “The most rewarding part of my career has been working with patients and families to help them understand their allergic diseases, embrace a treatment plan and successfully manage symptoms improving quality of life.”
As she prepares to step away from clinical practice, Broome expressed deep appreciation for those she has worked alongside. “I will miss my patients and the wonderful staff at Allergy, Asthma & Immunology,” she said.
Broome leaves behind a legacy of compassion, respect and commitment to patient care. She will be greatly missed by colleagues, staff and the many patients whose lives she touched.
Thank you, Dr. Broome!
