BOTOX

BOTOX is an FDA-approved injectable compound that can reduce wrinkles by up to 80 percent. By blocking the release of acetylcholine, a chemical released by the skin’s nerve cells that cause wrinkles, BOTOX effectively eliminates the appearance of facial wrinkles around the eyes, forehead and/or mouth.

Daxxify

Daxxify is a new-generation cosmetic injectable that targets wrinkles by temporarily relaxing facial muscles to reduce the appearance of lines and creases. What sets Daxxify apart is its longer-lasting effect, with results that can last up to six months or more, compared to the three-to-four-month duration of traditional neuromodulators. Daxxify uses a proprietary peptide technology that enhances its longevity and effectiveness, making it an appealing option for individuals seeking less frequent treatments to maintain a smooth, youthful look. Like other neuromodulators, it is commonly used for areas such as forehead lines, crow’s feet and frown lines.

Dysport

Dysport is a popular neuromodulator used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by temporarily relaxing targeted facial muscles. It is particularly effective for treating dynamic wrinkles like frown lines (glabellar lines) between the eyebrows, crow’s feet and forehead creases. Dysport tends to diffuse more easily over a larger area, making it a good choice for patients with broader treatment zones. Results can often be seen within two to three days after treatment, with effects lasting around three to four months. Dysport offers a quick, minimally invasive way to achieve a smoother, more youthful facial appearance.

Kybella

Kybella is a non-surgical injectable treatment designed to reduce fat beneath the chin, commonly known as a “double chin.” Its active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, is a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps break down and absorb fat. When injected into targeted areas, Kybella destroys fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated by the body over time, resulting in a more contoured jawline. The treatment requires minimal downtime, and once the desired results are achieved, no further sessions are typically needed since the fat cells are permanently removed.

How are injections administered?

Before receiving injectables, a patient’s face will be marked to designate the treatment areas. Keep in mind that the injection points might not be directly on the wrinkles, but rather on the areas where the muscles contract. A numbing cream and antiseptic will be applied to minimize discomfort. After the cream and antiseptic are applied, one of our skin specialists will administer the compound through a series of small injections with a tiny needle just below the skin. The length of the procedure varies depending on the number of areas to be treated but typically takes no longer than 20 minutes.

Am I a good candidate for injectables?

If you want to minimize the appearance of laugh lines, crow’s feet and other wrinkles on the face, injections may be right for you. Most of our injectables patients are men and women between the ages of 35 and 60, and the best candidates are those who have a reasonably good skin tone without excessive sun damage.

It is also important to have realistic expectations of your results since injections will not treat sagging, drooping or sun-damaged skin. You may not be a suitable candidate for injections if you have certain medical conditions or are:

Pregnant
Nursing
Allergic to bovine products
Allergic to local anesthetics

During your consultation, your doctor will discuss your medical history to make sure you are suitable for the procedure.

What kind of post-procedure care can I expect from injections?

Aside from staying out of the sun, you will be able to resume normal activities immediately following your injections. While there is little to no recovery time, we recommend that patients avoid bending or lying down for up to four hours after treatment to keep the compound from moving to other areas of the face. Patients should not rub the facial area for at least 12 hours after the injections.

Any mild discomfort can be treated with over-the-counter pain medication, such as ibuprofen. Patients should refrain from taking aspirin since doing so could increase bruising of the treatment area.

What are typical injectable results and how long do they last?

Injectables are a quick and easy cosmetic procedure that produces dramatic results. Patients generally see the full effects within one week of the injections, and the effects usually last between three to six months.
