Cosmetic Fillers

Hattiesburg Clinic offers a variety of injectable fillers that can be used to restore volume and reduce wrinkles in the face.

Cosmetic Fillers Overview

Injectable dermal fillers are used to add fullness to thin lips, enhance contouring in the face, soften creases in the skin and reduce wrinkles. Throughout our lifetime, our faces lose volume and lines become more apparent due to aging, sun exposure, heredity and many other reasons. Cosmetic fillers can help restore fullness that has been lost and improve early signs of aging.

Because of the wide array of benefits and minimal to no downtime, dermal fillers are some of the most popular cosmetic dermatology treatments available. The experienced skin care professionals at Hattiesburg Clinic specialize in dermal filler and injectables, offering customized treatments to help patients achieve their aesthetic goals.

Types of Cosmetic Fillers

Hattiesburg Clinic offers the following types of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers and injectable treatments:

JUVÉDERM

JUVÉDERM offers six unique and long-lasting fillers. Each one adds natural-looking volume and is designed for different needs in specific areas of the face including lips, cheeks, chin, smile lines, undereye or jawline.

  • JUVÉDERM SKINVIVE: The first and only FDA-approved microdroplet injectable for improving skin smoothness in the cheeks; increases hydration and provides a glow that can last up to six months
  • JUVÉDERM ULTRA XC: Adds fullness and plumps lips, as well as smooths and corrects moderate-to-severe parentheses lines in adults
  • JUVÉDERM ULTRA PLUS XC: Smooths moderate-to-severe parentheses lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth
  • JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA XC: Adds subtle volume to lips and softens the appearance of vertical lip lines
  • JUVÉDERM VOLLURE XC: Softens moderate-to-severe parentheses lines and wrinkles by adding subtle volume around the nose and mouth in adults over the age of 21
  • JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC: Adds volume to the cheek area to correct age-related volume loss in adults over the age of 21
  • JUVÉDERM VOLUX XC: Specifically designed to enhance the jawline and provide long-lasting definition, resulting in a more chiseled appearance

Restylane

Restylane can be applied to nearly any facial area but works great as a filler for lips, marionette lines, nasolabial folds and nasal redefinition.

  • Restylane Defyne: Smooths out deeper lines around the mouth (nasolabial folds and marionette line)
  • Restylane Lyft: Used for cheek augmentation and the correction of age-related midface contour deficiencies, as well as the treatment of moderate-to-severe facial folds, such as the nasolabial folds (smile lines)
  • Restylane Kysse: Used for lip plumping and shaping and lasts nine to 12 months
  • Restylane Refyne: Smooths out the lines that run alongside the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds and marionette lines)
  • Restylane Silk: Best for subtle lip augmentation and the smoothing of wrinkles around the mouth

RHA Collection

The RHA Collection offers long-lasting fillers that can last up to 15 months in dynamic wrinkles and folds and one year in lipstick lines.

  • RHA2: RHA2 provides elegant softening for dynamic lines and moderate- to-severe volume deficits. It may be appropriate for patients who:
    • Need correction for areas such as radial cheek lines.
    • Desire a natural, soft-focus look.
  • RHA3: RHA3 offers noticeable, yet refined smoothing for dynamic wrinkles and folds. It may be appropriate for patients who:
Need correction for areas such as marionette lines and oral commissures.
Desire a natural look and need a moderately robust filler with smooth results.
  • RHA4: RHA4 gives natural volume for moderate-to-severe dynamic folds and deeper deficits. It is offered in an optimized 1.2 mL syringe and may be appropriate for patients who:
    • Need correction with a deeper-placed filler.
    • Desire a natural look and enhanced volume without obvious ridges.
  • RHA REDENSITY: Redensity is the first and only FDA-approved filler for injection into both the superficial dermis and dermis to treat dynamic perioral rhytids. It may be appropriate for patients who:
    • Need correction with a superficially placed filler in the dermis.
    • Desire a natural look and feel, without unwanted heaviness.

Sculptra

Sculptra is a collagen-stimulating injectable treatment designed to restore facial volume and improve skin elasticity over time. Unlike traditional fillers, which provide immediate volume, Sculptra gradually works by encouraging the body’s natural collagen production, leading to subtle, long-lasting improvements in facial contours and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Typically used to address hollow areas like the cheeks, temples and nasolabial folds, Sculptra’s results develop gradually over several months, with effects lasting up to two years or more. It offers a natural-looking solution for those seeking a slow, steady enhancement in facial volume and skin texture.

No matter the result you are looking for, our board-certified team of dermatologists and plastic surgeons can help.

How are injectable fillers administered?

Before receiving injectable fillers, a patient’s face will be marked to identify the injection areas. The injection areas will be cleaned, and then a numbing cream or local anesthesia may be used to minimize discomfort. Upon application, your doctor will administer the filler through a series of small injections using a tiny needle.

How long does a cosmetic fillers procedure take?

The length of the procedure varies depending on the treatment area and how many areas are being treated. Typically, the procedure takes between 15 and 30 minutes.

Am I a good candidate for dermal fillers?

Injectable fillers are recommended for patients who want to reduce signs of aging by minimizing wrinkles and enhancing facial volume. The procedure is suitable for most individuals and skin types, but you may not be a candidate if you have:

  • Active acne
  • Active skin infections
  • Allergies to common filler ingredients
  • Auto-immune disorders
  • Bleeding Disorders
  • Keloid or hypertrophic scars

Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are also advised to avoid injectable fillers.

During your consultation, your doctor will discuss your medical history to make sure you are suitable for the procedure.

What can I expect after the injectable fillers procedure?

Downtime is minimal after receiving the procedure. Patients are typically able to resume daily activities and even apply makeup as soon as the procedure is completed. However, for 24-48 hours after treatment, we recommend avoiding:

  • Strenuous activity, such as exercise
  • Sun exposure and excessive heat
  • Touching the treatment area
  • Sleeping on your back

By avoiding these activities, the filler will settle in and create optimal results.

What are typical injectable filler results and how long do they last?

Injectable filler results are usually immediate. The longevity depends on the type of filler used, how much filler is used and the treatment area. Results typically last between six months and two years.

Dermal fillers vs. surgery: Which option is best for me?

Some patients may prefer surgical options, like facelifts, eyelid surgery or brow lifts, for more permanent results that injectable fillers cannot produce. Injectable fillers are temporary treatments and require ongoing sessions for long-term results.
