Breast Cancer Awareness with Hattiesburg Clinic The Breast Center

Women across the United States have a 13.8% chance of developing breast cancer at some point in their lives (American Cancer Society). At Hattiesburg Clinic The Breast Center, manager Brittany Dozier discussed the importance of early detection.

“Early detection is key,” Dozier said. “If breast cancer can be detected before it becomes late-stage, there is more that can be done in stopping it.”

The American Cancer Society recommends women receive yearly mammograms and monthly self-checks for breast cancer. Dozier acknowledged that mammograms are not always an easy topic to discuss, but raising awareness is critical to fighting breast cancer. “Mammograms are not always the easiest thing to talk about,” said Dozier. “This disease is not always easy to talk about. But as long as you gauge interest in it, more people will become aware and conscious about it.”
