Acne & Acne Scarring

Acne Overview

At Hattiesburg Clinic, we see many patients who suffer from acne vulgaris, a chronic, inflammatory disorder of the oil glands in the face, anterior chest and back. This particular skin condition usually occurs during childhood and teenage years, but can also occur later in life for some adults.

The severity of acne can range from a few comedones and bumps to cystic acne. Cystic acne can often lead to scars and disfigurement of the skin. If you are battling acne, our board certified providers can determine which path of treatment is best for you and your skin. While acne cannot be cured, it can be treated.

What can I expect with treatment for acne?

After a thorough examination by one of our providers, a customized acne treatment plan will be provided to you. There are several treatment solutions possible for each patient including prescription therapy and in-office treatments such as chemical peels and extractions. Depending on the severity of your acne, oral medication may also be used. Our providers are able to prescribe isotretion for severe cases.
