Dr. Hrom featured in WDAM Pink Up Segment
In a recent interview with WDAM, John S. “Bo” Hrom, MD, FACP with Hattiesburg Clinic Hematology/Oncology discussed lobular breast cancer and the way it forms.
Dr. Hrom explained that lobular breast cancer, which forms in the lobes of the breast, is much more rare than ductal breast cancer.
“Ninety percent of breast cancer actually comes from the duct,” Hrom said. “About 10-15% comes from the lobule. So, the lobular breast cancer is much more rare.”
Hrom also discussed what signs to look for during monthly self-exams.
“Any change in texture of the breast, particularly asymmetry between the opposite breast,” Hrom said. “Also, any evidence of nipple inversion or bleeding from the nipple should be investigated, and you should go see your physician immediately.”
