Hattiesburg Clinic Center for Sleep Medicine Earns Reaccreditation

Hattiesburg Clinic Center for Sleep Medicine has received reaccreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

Congratulations to Hattiesburg Clinic Center for Sleep Medicine for meeting the high standards required to earn reaccreditation as a sleep disorders center. As an important resource in our communities, this achievement not only recognizes the valuable academic and scientific contributions made by The Center for Sleep Medicine, but also acknowledges that patients suffering from sleep disorders are receiving high-quality care.

The Center for Sleep Medicine is a full-service sleep center that specializes in clinical evaluation and follow-up of sleep related problems. The center houses a clinical studies laboratory for in-depth analysis of sleep-related issues. A wide range of adult and pediatric sleep disorders are treated through the center, such as sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, excessive sleepiness and disorders associated with the initiation and maintenance of sleep.

To receive a five-year accreditation, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM. The accreditation process can take between six to eight months. The Center for Sleep Medicine has been accredited since 1985.

“For 38 years, our facility has continued to meet the high standards set by the AASM. We have always been driven to provide a level of care and treatment that meets the expectations or our field and will continue to do so. This reaccreditation showcases our commitment to serving our patients and we hope that it reinforces their confidence in the services we provide,” said Walid G. Younis, MD, a physician at The Center for Sleep Medicine.

The AASM is a professional medical society for clinicians, researchers and other health care providers in the field of sleep medicine. As the national accrediting body for sleep disorders centers and labs, the AASM is dedicated to setting standards and promoting excellence in sleep medicine heath care, education and research.
