Prioritize Prevention and Stay Focused on What Matters Most
Flu season can interrupt the moments that matter most. Having the flu can mean missing work, school, family gatherings, kids’ sporting events or time with the people you love. Planning ahead and getting your flu shot can help you stay healthy and focused on the people and activities that make life meaningful.
Walk-In Flu Shots Available
As a convenience to our patients, Hattiesburg Clinic offers walk-in flu shots Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on the first floor of the main clinic, located at 415 S. 28th Ave., in Hattiesburg. Flu shots are available to the public at this location throughout the 2026-27 flu season for those 5 years of age and older.
How the Flu Spreads and Who Is Most at Risk
Influenza is a highly contagious respiratory illness that can spread easily through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes or is in close contact with others. It can also linger on surfaces, making transmission more likely in public spaces, schools and workplaces.
While anyone can catch the flu, certain groups are at higher risk of developing serious complications. These include:
- Young children, especially those under 5 years of age
- Adults aged 65 and older
- Pregnant individuals
- People with chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes or heart disease
What might be a few days of discomfort for one person could lead to serious complications or hospitalization for someone at higher risk. Getting vaccinated can help reduce the risk of illness and help limit the spread of flu to those around you.
Make Prevention Part of Your Plan
Each year, flu vaccines are updated to match the circulating strains, making annual vaccination an important step in protecting against flu. It is safe, effective and widely accessible, often requiring only a few minutes of your time.
Getting your flu shot now can help you stay prepared for the season ahead. Work, school, family and the activities you enjoy do not stop when flu season starts. Getting vaccinated can help you stay on track.
Prioritize prevention. Get your flu shot, and stay focused on what matters most this season.
