Dr. Latorre Appointed to Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure
The Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure (MSBML) has announced that Carlos A. Latorre, MD, MS, FAAFP, DABFM, with Hattiesburg Clinic Hypertension Center has been appointed to serve on the board. Gov. Tate Reeves appointed Dr. Latorre to fill the vacancy following the July 2025 passing of longtime board member Thomas E. Joiner, MD. Latorre’s appointment will go before the Mississippi Senate for confirmation during the 2026 legislative session.
Gov. Reeves recognized the board members stating, “These physicians truly represent the best of Mississippi medicine. I am confident their service on the MSBML will uphold the highest standards of medical practice and help ensure the health and well-being of Mississippians.”
Latorre joined Hattiesburg Clinic in Dec. 2024 with a goal to help Mississippians become healthier by lowering their blood pressure and reducing the threat of stroke, heart attack and kidney disease.
“It is both an honor and a privilege to serve on the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure,” Latorre stated. “I am excited to work with my fellow board members to maintain and enhance the standards of medical practice in our state.
