Meet the Athletic Trainers of Hattiesburg Clinic Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine

At Hattiesburg Clinic Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, our athletic trainers specialize in preventing, examing, diagnosing and treating injuries to muscles and bones. Athletic trainers are often the first line of care for an athlete when there is an injury, and they are able to work with the athlete through initial evaluation, treatment and many times see them return to the game. What makes their role unique is their ability to guide an athlete through every stage as they maintain a broad understanding of the body’s systems and specialize in areas such as concussion management.

For decades, Hattiesburg Clinic’s athletic trainers have played an integral role in supporting athletes at local schools throughout the Pine Belt. The athletic trainers dedicate their time to helping keep student-athletes healthy, safe and performing at their best. They are trained in lifesaving techniques, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators. Their training prepares them to handle emergencies during practices and games, such as asthma attacks, heat stroke, concussions, spine injuries and even sudden cardiac arrest.

Their work has earned statewide recognition, including being named the Mississippi Athletic Trainers Association (MATA) Sportsmedicine Person of the Year in 2014. Over the years, several team members have also received individual MATA honors, while many have served in leadership positions within the association.

The dedication of this team is evident every day. Through long hours, demanding schedules and time spent away from loved ones, they have formed bonds that extend beyond the workplace. Whether gathering for bowling nights, axe throwing, family outings or other activities, they intentionally invest in one another and create a support system that helps them navigate both professional and personal challenges.

Through every challenge and every triumph, our athletic trainers continue to exemplify professionalism, compassion and unwavering dedication. They celebrate victories alongside their athletes and share in the disappointment when setbacks occur. Their commitment goes far beyond the sidelines. Thank you to our athletic trainers who leave a lasting impact on the schools, athletes and communities they serve.
