What to Expect at an Appointment:

  • When you make an appointment with a mental health provider, the first visit will consist of an interview to get to know your child or teenager, family history and the history of the difficulty he/she is dealing with. A plan will be discussed for addressing your concerns, which may include further counseling or treatment.
  • Your provider will discuss with you a variety of well-known treatments and answer any questions you may have. Your provider can also discuss referrals for coordinating care if necessary.
  • Visits may also include inventories and psychological tests that are implemented to assist with deciding on a treatment plan.
