Meet Lauren Hinton with Hematology/Oncology

Lauren Hinton is a chemotherapy technician with Hattiesburg Clinic Hematology/Oncology, a position she has held for two years.

Hematology/Oncology operates an outpatient chemotherapy service with full lab support. In her role as a chemotherapy technician, Hinton manages the flow of patients as they come in for their treatments. She also takes patients’ vital signs and assists the nursing staff in the care of patients receiving treatment. Her biggest enjoyment comes from getting to know her patients while they undergo treatment and form relationships with her coworkers.

“I have gained so many friendships and really learned what it is like to work as a team,” Hinton said.

Hinton was born and raised in New Augusta, Miss., and has two brothers. She attended Perry Central High School and Jones College. Prior to her position at Hattiesburg Clinic, she worked in home health.

In her spare time, Hinton enjoys cooking. She loves animals and even has a mini farm on her property. In addition to chickens, pigs and goats, she has baby cows that she has been bottle feeding for the past few months.

“This is something I do for fun,” Hinton said when asked about her farm. “I just love being around animals.”
