Neurology – Hospital Care Overview

Hattiesburg Clinic Neurology – Hospital Care provides neurological consultation for patients hospitalized with conditions affecting the nervous system. This includes the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles.

A neurohospitalist is a neurologist that primarily provides consultative care to patients requiring inpatient care due to serious illness. While our neurohospitalists are Hattiesburg Clinic providers, they only serve in the hospital setting and do not manage chronic neurological conditions. They work closely with hospital staff and consult with the patient’s attending provider in the hospital on behalf of the patient.

Our neurohospitalists treat a range of conditions, including but not limited to:
  • Acute headaches
  • Epilepsy (seizures)
  • Infections of the brain and spinal cord
  • Multiple sclerosis exacerbations
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Stroke
  • Other general neurological conditions
