Hattiesburg Clinic acts as title sponsor for Hattiesburg Half Marathon

Hattiesburg Clinic is honored to have served as the title sponsor for the 12th Annual Hattiesburg Half Marathon/10K/5K for the second year in a row. The race was held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, in downtown Hattiesburg, starting and ending at the historic Saenger Theatre.

The race drew 1,500 participants from the Hub City and beyond, with one family coming all the way from Bermuda. Some were seasoned athletes chasing personal bests, while others were tackling their first 5K. No matter their level of experience, each person was running for a good cause – to benefit local charities.

Through various fundraising initiatives and partnerships, the marathon raises funds for a diverse range of local charities – The Arc of Southeast Mississippi, The Children’s Center for Communication and Development, Domestic Abuse Family Shelter, DuBard School for Language Disorders, the Family YMCA of Southeast Mississippi, Kuntry Kidz Youth Foundation and Southern Pines Animal Shelter. The Arc of Southeast Mississippi kicked off the race, while other benefitting organizations set up stations along the race route to provide snacks and water to runners.

As the title sponsor, Hattiesburg Clinic physicians and employees were active throughout the day, whether they were running the race, assisting runners along the route or volunteering. Hattiesburg Clinic’s Chief Executive Officer Bryan N. Batson, MD, stood at the finish line, congratulating every clinic employee who crossed.

“It is such an honor to sponsor this event,” Batson said. “This is a great opportunity for people within the clinic to get out and support the community we’ve called home for over 60 years.”

The Hattiesburg Clinic Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine team also participated, stationing physicians and athletic trainers along the race route to ensure runner safety. They set up a medical tent at the halfway mark of the race and had their mobile athletic training trailer at the finish line with providers readily available if a runner needed assistance.

Hattiesburg Clinic is proud to be a part of such a philanthropic event that raises awareness in our community. With the help of everyone involved, we are making strides towards a better tomorrow for our loved ones, for our community, for our patients… for you.
