Susan Yarrow selected as Hattiesburg Clinic’s Employee of the Quarter

Susan Yarrow, with Human Resources, has been selected as Hattiesburg Clinic’s Employee of the Second Quarter of 2023. Yarrow, who has been with Hattiesburg Clinic for over 14 years, was selected from a pool of hundreds of candidates across various departments. This award highlights Yarrow’s exceptional vision and commitment , as employee engagement coordinator, to recognizing the important work of her colleagues through her role at the clinic.

Yarrow went above and beyond recently by organizing and implementing the clinic’s Night at the Zoo event. This was held on behalf of the Hattiesburg Clinic physicians as a way to say thank you to Hattiesburg Clinic employees for their loyalty and dedication. Despite inclement weather that threatened to cancel the event, over 2,500 employees and their family members showed up to enjoy a night of fellowship, entertainment and family fun.

Sandra Knue, with the marketing and communications department said, “It was so fun and great to socialize with coworkers outside of work. I’ve always thought that Susan is the clinic’s biggest cheerleader! We are so lucky to have her on our team!”

Harlon Aultman, marketing manager, added, “Susan is extraordinary at implementing a vision… and she did just that with this event. I know Susan put in countless hours of work on this event and it shows.”

The impact of Yarrow’s efforts extends beyond the clinic, resonating throughout the community. Proceeds from the event t-shirt sales were donated to provide financial support for patients who receive care at Edwards Street Fellowship Health Clinic. Yarrow’s dedication to employee engagement has contributed to increased employee satisfaction, improved teamwork and a more vibrant environment for employees and patients. Through her actions, she has demonstrated that acknowledging the achievements of coworkers not only boosts morale but also enhances the health of our Pine Belt communities.

Ann Skrmetti, director of human resources said, “Without Susan’s enthusiasm and persistence, these celebrations would not take place. People do not understand what a huge undertaking it is to coordinate such an event… Susan pours her heart and soul into preparation to ensure that our employees have a meaningful experience.”

Yarrow’s actions throughout the years have created a ripple effect, encouraging others to actively engage in recognizing the valuable contributions of their coworkers. She has earned this award because her genuine dedication to acknowledging the important work of those around her has both lifted spirits and encouraged camaraderie at Hattiesburg Clinic.

The Employee of the Quarter is selected from nominations by an employee’s peers, managers and patients and then is chosen by a committee of people from all clinic levels.

As Employee of the Quarter, Yarrow receives a $100 bonus, a reserved parking spot for one quarter, one vacation day and an invitation to the clinic’s Employee Awards Banquet next year.
