Megan H. Dillon, MD, and Makayla Burns, RN, Receive Cheers from Your Peers

The WOW! Committee recently congratulated Megan H. Dillon, MD, and Makayla Burns, RN, with Hattiesburg Clinic Children’s Clinic, for receiving Cheers from Your Peers. They are being recognized for their compassion, flexibility and commitment to making a patient feel comfortable during a recent visit.

In a recent WOW! nomination, Aprile C. Gilmore, MD, shared how Dr. Dillon and Ms. Burns went above and beyond to make a child’s visit a positive experience. Knowing the child was fearful of the office, they recognized cues and made accommodations to make the patient as comfortable as possible.

By meeting the child at her comfort level, Dillon and Burns were able to complete the visit while helping the child remain calm and engaged. Their willingness to adjust their approach made a meaningful difference for both the child and her family.

“I am proud to have partners like this who prioritize children, their health and building strong relationships with their families,” Dr. Gilmore shared. “This above and beyond behavior is exactly what we want Hattiesburg Clinic to be known for.”

Gilmore also reflected on the lasting impact of the experience, saying, “I have no doubt this mother will always have the utmost respect and trust in her health care team. And I know both the mama and baby felt very loved and cared for that day.”

Thank you, Dr. Dillon and Ms. Burns, for going above and beyond for your coworkers, Hattiesburg Clinic and, ultimately, our patients. We appreciate you!
