Meet Mary Rodgers with Hattiesburg Clinic Financial Services

Meet Mary Rodgers, a project support manager with Hattiesburg Clinic Financial Services. Over the past five years with Hattiesburg Clinic, Rodgers has played an important role as part of the revenue team ensuring claims are processed accurately and efficiently. She and her team work through claim rejections and denials, identifying issues related to billing, coding or payer requirements and collaborating with departments across the clinic to resolve them.

While she enjoys the problem-solving aspect of her work, what she values most are the people around her. Their goal is simple: making sure claims are filed correctly and paid appropriately by insurance companies.

“I enjoy my team and the people I work with throughout the clinic,” Rodgers said. “We have a good dynamic and they are very positive and hardworking, which makes the days easier.”

One of the most rewarding parts of her role is helping others grow. Rodgers shares that she enjoys the teaching aspect of her job. Throughout her time at Hattiesburg Clinic, Rodgers says she’s gained more than professional experience, she’s found mentors and lifelong friendships.

Originally from Michigan, Rodgers earned a bachelor of science in health care administration from Baker College. During her 13 years in health care, she has worked in a variety of specialties, including OB/GYN, oncology, physical medicine and rehabilitation and emergency medicine. Her experience has included roles as a receptionist, patient account representative, admissions clerk, medical records specialist and billing office team member.

Outside of work, Rodgers enjoys spending time with her husband of nearly eight years and her large, close-knit family. Whether she is going to the movies, reading, taking walks, binge-watching her favorite series or volunteering through her church, she enjoys making the most of her free time. She’s also taking on a new challenge by learning to play golf.

Thank you, Mary, for your hard work, leadership and the positive impact you make on your team and Hattiesburg Clinic every day.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

MR: I could eat some form of potato every single day. Fries, mashed potatoes, tator tots… all the things!

People would be surprised if they knew… what about you?

MR: I’m from a family where I call pastoring the “family business.” I have family members for generations that are pastors.
