Meet Melissa West with Hattiesburg Clinic Accounting
Meet Melissa West, with Hattiesburg Clinic Accounting, where she works with departments across the clinic to pay bills and reconcile invoices. West has worked at the clinic for over 20 years and currently serves as the accounts payable manager. When asked what she enjoys most about her department, West expressed she enjoys being able to help others, solve problems, build relationships and work with her amazing co-workers.
During her time with the clinic, West shared that she has learned the importance of accurate financial management and how it plays a role in overall success for various operations through the organization. She has learned that accountability, attention to detail and open collaboration are vital when working with other departments.
West was born in Waynesboro, but lived on the coast before moving to Brooklyn, Miss. She attended Forrest County Agricultural High School then Pearl River Community College and finished her education at The University of Southern Mississippi. West did not start her career in health care. She worked at a bank for 15 years, then in the forestry equipment industry for five years before her time at Hattiesburg Clinic.
West has been married to her husband, Jerry, for 37 years. Together, they have two children and two grandchildren. Outside of work, West enjoys cooking, baking, thrifting and raising her chickens. Her favorite quote reflects her adaptability and drive:

MW: Sew.
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
MW: Seafood
People would be surprised if they knew… what about you?
MW: I had to learn to drive a tractor before I could drive a vehicle.
