Hattiesburg Clinic Recognized with Epic Gold Stars Level 10
Hattiesburg Clinic has once again earned Epic’s highest distinction – Gold Stars Level 10 – for system configuration, achieving this honor for the sixth consecutive year. The recognition was announced at Epic’s annual User Group Meeting, placing Hattiesburg Clinic among an elite group of only 25 health care organizations worldwide to reach Level 10 this year and one of just four to do so six years in a row.
Epic’s Gold Stars program is designed to help organizations adopt tools that improve both clinical and financial outcomes, with program thresholds refreshed annually to encourage continued innovation.
Epic reports that as of July 2025, the typical organization in the Gold Stars program has about 75 percent of features within Epic’s electronic medical record (EMR) system configured. Hattiesburg Clinic successfully configured 93 percent of available features, far exceeding the national average.
“This accomplishment reflects the ongoing dedication of our physicians, staff and information systems teams,” Bryan N. Batson, MD, chief executive officer of Hattiesburg Clinic, said. “Every year the bar is raised and every year our teams rise to meet it. Their work ensures our patients and providers have access to the most effective tools for high-quality care.”
This year also marked the introduction of a new Gold Stars category for usage, measuring how many configured features are actively applied in daily practice. Hattiesburg Clinic reached Level 6, indicating more than 70 percent of configured items are in use. Clinic leaders plan to build on this progress with continued collaboration across departments to maximize feature adoption in the coming year.
Betty Dickerson, chief informatics officer of Hattiesburg Clinic, noted, “Our goal is not only to configure advanced tools but also to make sure they are consistently used to benefit patients and providers. Achieving Level 6 in the first year of this new measurement gives us a strong foundation to build on.”
“This recognition is a testament to the incredible teamwork and commitment across our organization,” Brooke Brewer, director of Hattiesburg Clinic’s Epic clinical applications, added. “We are proud of this milestone and look forward to expanding the impact of Epic’s tools in patient care.”
The award highlights the dedication of Hattiesburg Clinic’s team and underscores the clinic’s commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
