Pediatric Hearing & Vision Testing

When your child needs a hearing or vision screening, the team at Hattiesburg Clinic can help.

Pediatric Hearing & Vision Testing

Hearing and vision testing are important screening techniques for measuring a child’s overall well-being. Many parents do not know their child has a hearing or vision problem until they are not meeting milestones or falling behind in school. Hearing and vision problems are often genetic, but sometimes caused by other reasons. Taking the proper steps to ensure your child can hear and see properly is critical in giving them the best life possible. Hattiesburg Clinic is pleased to offer hearing and vision testing for our pediatric patients.

Hearing Screenings

Our providers use a variety of technologies to test a child’s hearing. We typically begin hearing screenings around the age of four. If a test result shows your child has trouble hearing, we will work with you on the next steps, such as visiting an audiologist. Contact our team if you are concerned about your child’s hearing and would like to schedule a hearing screening outside of their regular well visit schedule.

Pediatric Vision Testing

If a member of a child’s immediate family (mother, father, or sibling) has vision problems, it is possible that the child may have vision problems as well. Being able to see is a critical component for growth and development in babies and succeeding in school for older children. Hattiesburg Clinic offers eye screenings starting at 12 months old. Our team uses a variety of technologies for pediatric eye exams. If a test shows that glasses or contacts are needed, we will help ensure they are obtained and instruct you on best practices for using them. If you would like to schedule a pediatric vision test outside of your child’s well visit schedule, contact our team to schedule an appointment.
