Telehealth Video Visits Deliver Convenient Care

Telehealth video visits through Hattiesburg Clinic’s patient portal, Iris, are an innovative way for patients to receive the care they need in the comfort of their own home. With the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), Telehealth has provided patients a way to see their provider while maintaining social distancing standards.

Donna Cobb had her first Telehealth video visit with Jason Helton, PT, DPT, of Hattiesburg Clinic Physical Therapy – Purvis. Cobb said her first virtual physical therapy session was a breeze, and the best part – she never had to leave home.

“It was very professional. I had my exercise mat on the floor and a chair next to me, so Mr. Helton could watch me exercise and give me pointers if I needed to change anything,” Cobb said.

Cobb had seen Helton for an in-person visit before, so they were able to pick up from where they last left off with her exercises.

“First, he would want me to demonstrate the exercises we have already been over,” Cobb said. “Then, he would show me on his end what he wanted me to do [moving forward].”

Virtual physical therapy has allowed patients access to care where access has been difficult, particularly throughout the current pandemic. Physical therapists are able to connect and guide patients through their exercises and educate them on the various rehabilitation techniques.

“Mr. Helton really works with you,” Cobb said. “If he knows you’re holding back and can do more, he will help you make that bigger move, that step forward. He will help you with that.”

Hattiesburg Clinic offers Telehealth video visits so patients can electronically visit with certain providers through their Iris account. Telehealth, also known as telemedicine, is the use of video and voice technology to deliver health care services at a distance. With Hattiesburg Clinic’s live telehealth video service, patients have the ability to schedule time with a provider through a two-way video conference while never leaving their office or home.

Telehealth video visits are a great way for patients to receive the care they need in this unprecedented time. To learn more about Telehealth video visits, visit www.hattiesburgclinic.com/iris.
