Telehealth Video Visits Deliver Convenient Care
Telehealth video visits through Hattiesburg Clinic’s patient portal, Iris, are an innovative way for patients to receive the care they need in the comfort of their home. With the spread COVID-19, telehealth has emerged as one of the leading methods for routine care and follow-up appointments, especially for working moms.
Dana Thigpen and her daughter, Trinity, recently took advantage of the latest innovation in health care and raved about how convenient and accommodating Telehealth video visits were for her and her family.
“All I can say is that, that was one of the easiest doctor’s visits I have ever had,” Thigpen said. “Usually, I have to take a full day off of work because we live over an hour away from the clinic, so it was nice to just take the morning off instead of the whole day.”
Hattiesburg Clinic offers Telehealth video visits so patients can electronically visit with certain providers through their Iris account. Telehealth, also known as telemedicine, is the use of video and voice technology to deliver health care services at a distance. With Hattiesburg Clinic’s live telehealth video service, patients have the ability to schedule time with a provider through a two-way video conference while never leaving their office or home.
“We were piled up in bed for our video visit, so needless to say, both Trinity and I were completely comfortable,” Thigpen said. “When she [Trinity] saw Dr. Parvin on the screen, she waved at him and smiled. She was the happiest little thing.”
Dr. Parvin has been a part of Thigpen’s family care for quite some time. He has been there since her first-born son was a year old, and Thigpen and her family say they will continue to travel 60-plus miles from Raleigh, Miss. just to see Dr. Parvin if they have to.
“I want to thank Dr. Parvin from the bottom of my heart. He’s been there since the beginning and still remembers every little detail about my kids,” Thigpen said. “He gives me a comfort level with my kids, and he really listens to me about my maternal instincts. He understands me as a parent, and I highly recommend him to anybody.”
“Telehealth really is one of the best things out there right now. The comfort and convenience of it is something I really appreciate,” Thigpen said.
Thank you, Dana and Trinity, for sharing your telemedicine experience.
