New Facility at Tatum Park

Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and Physical Rehabilitation – Tatum Park Now Open

Hattiesburg Clinic Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is now seeing patients at its new facility near Tatum Park, located at 103 Medical Park, off Veterans Memorial Drive, Highway 11, in Hattiesburg, Miss.

The two-story 57, 221-square-foot building offers multiple services under one roof, including orthopaedics and sports medicine care, sports training programs, and physical and occupational rehabilitation. The facility consists of a clinical practice space for 14 orthopaedics and sports medicine providers, a 9,000-square-foot physical rehabilitation suite, community conference center and an imaging suite.

The opening of this facility also marks the clinic’s partnership with Traction Sports Performance out of Baton Rouge, La. Traction Sports offers training services at the location’s 14,310-square-foot indoor sports performance center, which opened earlier in the summer.

The sports performance center features weight systems, a half-court basketball floor, baseball batting cages and an indoor turf football field that opens to an exterior natural turf field for football, soccer, volleyball and other sports training activities. Traction Sports Performance, based out of Baton Rouge, La., offers training services at the center.

In addition to the Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine department, the clinic’s physical and occupational therapy services have relocated to the facility under its new name, Hattiesburg Clinic Physical Rehabilitation – Tatum Park. In its new space, Physical Rehabilitation – Tatum Park will provide physical and occupational rehabilitation through personalized, one-on-one treatment programs.

“This entire project has been a long time coming, and we’re very excited that we’re now able to share it with our patients and the community,” said Raymond Whitehead, MD, orthopaedic surgeon at Hattiesburg Clinic. “I believe this facility will enhance orthopaedic care and sports training in the Pine Belt, while giving patients convenient access to rehabilitation services. We wanted to build a place where people can come to get the care they deserve that’s dedicated to getting them get back on their feet and back to enjoying their lives.”

Hattiesburg Clinic Executive Director Tommy Thornton, FACMPE, said this is unlike any other facility the clinic has built.

“We are very proud of this new facility and the hard work that was put into it,” said Thornton. “The amount of space and the nature of amenities and services within this complex make it unique, not only to Hattiesburg Clinic but also to this area. We think patients and members of the community will find this to be a valuable and convenient asset for their health and wellness.”

Development and design of the project was overseen by Sina Companies, a medical real estate developer headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
