Memory Center Advocates for Patients with Alzheimer’s at State Capitol
Hattiesburg Clinic Memory Center advocated for patients with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers at Alzheimer’s Advocacy Day Jan. 24 at the Mississippi State Capitol in Jackson, Miss.
The event, organized by The Dementia Care Network, brought together many state agencies and advocates serving the Alzheimer’s population. Other organizations in attendance included Alzheimer’s Association’s Mississippi Chapter, Department of Mental Health Alzheimer’s Division and Alzheimer’s Mississippi.
“We hope to keep our local legislators knowledgeable about Alzheimer’s disease and the needs of our patients,” said Julia Starrett, a psychometrist who attended on behalf of Memory Center. “The purpose of the day was to increase awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and the effects it has on the person living with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers.”
