Varicose veins are enlarged veins, mostly occurring in the legs and feet. Spider veins are a common, mild variation of varicose veins, and both are primarily a cosmetic concern. Sometimes varicose veins can cause discomfort or potentially lead to other problems.
Endovascular laser therapy (EVLT) is a brief, minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins that leaves no scarring and is performed in your doctor’s office. The treatment typically takes less than one hour and requires no anesthesia. A small laser is passed into the vein, and then the laser is directed to the affected vein, causing it to close and seal.
