COVID-19 Vaccines for Kids Ages 5-11 Now Available in Mississippi
Hours after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention approved Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for kids ages five and older, Anita S. Henderson, MD, FAAP, pediatrician at Hattiesburg Clinic The Pediatric Clinic and president of the Mississippi Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), spoke to Mississippi Public Broadcasting about the authorization of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine for kids ages 5-11 and where to find a vaccine provider.
“The first thing I would do is call your pediatrician or your family practice doctor and ask them if they have it available, and if not, there will be information on www.vaccines.gov as far as which locations have the Pfizer vaccine for ages 5-11,” Dr. Henderson said.
Hattiesburg Clinic Children’s Clinic, The Pediatric Clinic and HealthWorks Immunization Clinic, a service of Hattiesburg Clinic and Forrest General Hospital, are now offering the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine for children ages 5-11.
To schedule a vaccine appointment, contact your pediatrician’s office. The Pediatric Clinic patients may schedule an appointment by calling (601) 579-3000; Children’s Clinic patients may schedule their appointment by calling (601) 261-3500.
For patients who have not established care with a Hattiesburg Clinic pediatrician, vaccine appointments are also available at HealthWorks Immunization Clinic and can be scheduled via Iris or by calling (601) 261-1620.
