Heart & Vascular - Research

Research

Hattiesburg Clinic Heart & Vascular is committed to investigating and understanding new approaches to cardiovascular care in an effort to ultimately improve the quality of life for people with cardiovascular disorders.

The physicians of Heart & Vascular participate in various clinical trials.

What is a Clinical Trial?

Clinical trials are research studies involving people and designed to evaluate a medical, surgical or behavioral intervention. They are the primary method by which researchers find out if a new treatment, such as a new drug, diet or medical device (e.g., a pacemaker, stent, etc.) is safe and effective for people.

A clinical trial is often used to determine if a new treatment is more effective and/or has less harmful side effects than the standard treatment.

To learn more about clinical research, visit National Institutes of Health, or search for other clinical trials at ClinicalTrials.gov.
