Heart & Vascular Goes Red

Heart & Vascular Goes Red

Today, Hattiesburg Clinic Heart & Vascular is going red. The first Friday of February is designated as National Wear Red Day®, and the Heart & Vascular team wants you to Go Red for Women®.

“Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women, causing one in three deaths. The ‘Go Red’ movement is important because it encourages awareness of the very serious issue of women and heart disease,” said Randel L. Smith, MD, FACC. Cardiovascular diseases continue to be a woman’s greatest health threat; however, the American Heart Association states nearly 80 percent of cardiac events can be prevented. Through the Go Red for Women campaign, AHA has cultivated a national movement to end heart disease and stroke while promoting women’s heart health awareness. This movement is not about wearing red or sharing statistics; Go Red is about taking control of your heart health and encouraging loved ones to commit to their health as well.
