Hattiesburg Clinic Awards Employees, Recognizes Clinic Successes at Annual Banquet
Hattiesburg Clinic recently held its annual Employee Recognition and Awards Banquet Feb. 3 at Southern Oaks House & Gardens in Hattiesburg.
The event is held to recognize employee award recipients, retirees and employees who reached a decade or more of service to the clinic in 2019.
Prior to presenting awards, Executive Director Tommy Thornton, FACMPE, acknowledged the clinic’s growth over the past year.
He noted the clinic added 21 physicians in 2019, with 10 physicians committed to joining in 2020. He also addressed the development of facilities, including ongoing construction at the clinic’s Tatum Park campus, the recent opening of Lincoln Road Family Medicine, and several expansion projects.
In terms of care, Thornton presented the following statistics for the clinic:
- A 36 percent increase in colorectal cancer screening, in which 712 colon cancers were detected
- 1,705 cases of flu prevented
- 35 percent increase in diabetic eye exams
- 16 percent increase in hypertension control
- 81 more lives saved through breast cancer screening
Following Thornton’s presentations, several employees were awarded with the clinic’s staple awards.
The Annie Ruth Johnston Employee of the Year award went to Melissa Smith, with Satellite Management. This honor is awarded to an employee who exercises loyalty and dedication to Hattiesburg Clinic as demonstrated by the employee for whom the award is named.
The Faris Allen Nurse of the Year award was given to Shelia Morse, with Plastic Surgery. This honor recognizes an employee that epitomizes the professionalism, compassion and loyalty of Nurse Faris Allen.
The Medical Support Employee of the Year award went to Renee Williams, with EpicCare.
The Satellite Employee of the Year was awarded to Jodie Adams, with The Family Clinic – Purvis. Receiving the award for Administrative Support Employee of the Year was Teresa Brannan, with Heart & Vascular.
Receptionist of the Year was Jennifer Keith, with Endocrinology.
The award for Dialysis Employee of the Year went to Tina Green, with Nephrology.
The Volunteer of the Year was given to Penny Davis, with Coding.
Also recognized were employees who retired in 2019, as well as many employees whose service to the clinic spanned 10 to 40 years.
Additionally, employees who marked five years with the clinic in 2019 were honored with a special luncheon at Southern Oaks House and Gardens.
