“I chose the field of speech-language pathology because my grandfather had a stroke when I was very young. He lost his ability to communicate; therefore, I never really knew what he was like prior to his stroke. Once I was in school for speech pathology, I found out how diverse the field can be. I also like that I can work with a variety of ages and diagnoses,” Gay said.
