E. Howell Crawford, Jr., MD
Dr. Howell Crawford is a physician at Hattiesburg Clinic Gastroenterology. He earned his medical degree at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, Miss. He also completed an internal medicine internship and residency, as well as a gastroenterology fellowship, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Dr. Crawford is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
He offers treatment for a variety of digestive health-related illnesses and diseases, such as acid reflux (GERD), trouble swallowing (dysphagia), ulcerative colitis (UC), celiac disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), chronic liver disease, and pancreatic and biliary disorders. He is also trained in advanced endoscopic techniques, including ERCP, esophageal pH monitoring and resection of complex polyps.
Dr. Crawford has special interest in colon cancer prevention. His passion for colon cancer prevention began when his father became a colon cancer survivor. This led Dr. Crawford on the path toward becoming a gastroenterologist. He is a native of Tylertown, Miss., and is an avid outdoorsman. He and his wife, Virginia Crawford, MD, a physician with Hattiesburg Clinic Weight Management, enjoy traveling and spending time with family.
