Doctor Offers Tips for Breast Cancer Awareness Month


Did you know every two minutes a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer?*

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and John “Bo” Hrom, MD, FACP, with Hattiesburg Clinic Hematology/Oncology, spoke with WDAM’s Kendall Green about the disease and offered tips on how to prevent it or catch it early.

About Hattiesburg Clinic Hematology/Oncology

Hattiesburg Clinic Hematology/Oncology offers a coordinated approach to the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of disorders of the blood and cancer in adults. Cancer treatments available include chemotherapy, hormonal therapy and immunotherapy.

The department operates an outpatient chemotherapy service with full lab and radiology support. They are active in the National Cancer Institute, sponsored by the Community Clinical Oncology Program and affiliated with several national research groups, which bring the latest cancer treatments to Hattiesburg. The department is also interested and active in seeking trials to accomplish cancer prevention.
