Microneedling Overview

Microneedling is a minimally-invasive procedure in which controlled, micro-injuries are made to the desired treatment area using SkinPen®, an FDA approved device. This stimulates the body’s natural production of new collagen and elastin, while minimizing damage to the cells. The results are a more even skin tone and texture.

Collagen is an essential protein that keeps the skin looking youthful, smooth and firm. Collagen in the skin declines as we age, which can lead to wrinkles and other signs of aging. Collagen loss also occurs following injuries or skin damage, such as scarring or stretch marks.

Microneedling is used to help with:

  • Alopecia (microneedling with PRP)
  • Pigmentation issues
  • Scarring
  • Stretch marks
  • Wrinkles and fine lines

Platelet-rich plasma therapy, or PRP, is a non-surgical method of skin rejuvenation that uses the patient’s own blood to improve the appearance of facial tissue. PRP therapy is also used to help with hair restoration. It is typically combined with microneedling to produce optimal results.

Each procedure takes about 20 minutes and usually requires little downtime.* Optimal results require multiple sessions, usually one month apart.

*Patient results may vary.
