Sinus Surgery

Sinus Surgery Overview

For some of our patients, medication does not provide lasting relief from the symptoms of chronic and recurring sinusitis (sinus pain). If balloon sinuplasty is not an option, one of our physicians at Hattiesburg Clinic Ear, Nose & Throat may recommend endoscopic sinus surgery.

The goal of this surgery, like balloon sinuplasty, is to expand the sinus drainage pathway in order to restore drainage and heal the sinus area of infection.

What to Expect During Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

During the procedure, one of our physicians will use an endoscope, inserted through your nostrils, to view the passageways and sinus openings.

Then he will remove obstructive or abnormal tissue. By removing the tissue, the openings will expand and allow for proper drainage. This helps clear the sinuses and promote healing.

While patient results may vary, many people return to normal activities within one to two weeks following surgery.
