Hattiesburg Clinic Physicians Elected to Mississippi State Medical Association Board
Congratulations to the following Hattiesburg Clinic physicians who were recently elected to the Mississippi State Medical Association (MSMA) board:
- Jennifer J. Bryan, MD, Flowood Primary Care – President-Elect
- Anita S. Henderson, MD, The Pediatric Clinic – Trustee of District 6
- Rebecca W. Lauderdale, MD, Comprehensive Care – Ethical & Judicial Affairs
- Rambod A. Rouhbakhsh, MD, Clinical Research – Public Information of District 6
As leaders within MSMA, they will now be actively involved in advocating for improved health care policies, promoting medical education and research, and addressing health care disparities in the state.
Founded in 1856 as a professional organization, MSMA represents physicians and health care providers in the state of Mississippi. Its primary purpose is to advance the medical profession and improve health care in our state. As a platform for collaboration between physicians, it promotes advocacy for public health policies, high standards of medical education and patient care.
President-Elect, Jennifer J. Bryan, MD, of Hattiesburg Clinic Flowood Primary Care, who also serves as Chairman of the Mississippi delegation to the America Medical Association stated, “MSMA and Hattiesburg Clinic have a very close relationship, and that level of trust between the two has led to the establishment of much-needed clinics throughout Mississippi. As policy makers, we are the face and voice of Mississippi medicine, and we will meet regularly with legislators, stakeholders and partners to represent physicians’ interests and ensure that both physicians and patients get the representation they deserve.”
These physicians now hold key roles in making important decisions that will provide resources for medical professionals and enhance their practices. These initiatives include making Mississippi a smoke-free state, educating legislators and the public on the state’s health status and communicating the economic impact physicians can have on their local communities.
Rambod A. Rouhbakhsh, MD, of Hattiesburg Clinic Clinical Research said, “I am honored to have been elected to the Mississippi State Medical Association (MSMA) Council on Public Information. This council is responsible for studying and recommending a public information program that will reflect the MSMA’s goals of advancing the art and science of medicine and promoting public health. These goals align with my professional activities as both an academic physician and one focused on the intersection of primary care and population health. I am inspired by the responsibility and opportunity of this position.”
Congratulations to Drs. Bryan, Henderson, Lauderdale and Rouhbakhsh on their recent elections. As physicians with an intense focus on patient care and wellbeing, they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that can now be applied at the organizational level.
